I'm installing a GTX-327 and will be paring it to my D-100. Do I still need an altitude encoder, or can the D-100 feed the GTX for mode C operation?

Thanks!

Yes, the EFIS-D100 can function as an altitude encoder for your GTX-327. See Page 3-8 and 3-9 of the EFIS-D100 Installation Manual.

I have a Garmin GTX328 tranponder and a Dynon D10A. Can I connect the D10A to the GTX328 so that it is the altutide source for the transponder ? Do I need anything in between, the the Dynon encoder ?

@Jetfox, yes, it works. I have the same configuration in my plane at this time. You also need to configure the Dynon to output the format 4 altitude stream and your GTX328 as ICARUS ALT for the serial input.

Hi Jacques Thanks for the information. Just to make sure (I'm not a specialist in definitions . .) does that mean the that the GTX will the transmit also "C mode". Also, you mentioned nothing in between ? Do I need an encoder ? Do you know what (how many) wires from the EFIS to the transponder ?

Yes, the GTX will transmit mode C when it gets altitude from your D10A. It is the encoder. It's basically a single serial wire from the D10A to the transponder, as the installation manual describes.
