Hi Tech Support,

I've setup my D100 to my garmin 328 transponder in order that my Garmin will give mode C information. I need it to be giving Flt level information at all times.

I've just been told that I have to keep my baro setting on 1013mb for my transponder to give flight level information, that if I set QNH or QFE my transponder will transmit my height/altitude not my Flight level. Is this correct?

In the UK we never want our height/altitude transmitted by our transponders only our Flight level otherwise it confuses our Air traffic controllers.

How do I set up my D100 to give my transponder alt info relative to 1013mb at all times?

Thanks alot.

This is an important point and is being raised at:

General Discussion / Suggestions / Re: Standard (29.29/1013) Altitude Encoder Output

See: http://dynonavionics.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB.pl?num=1242817525/1#1

Other altimeters allow pressure to be set for local display purposes but always report against 1013, so why not the Dynons?

The encoder already does what you want, and what it should. Please check the other thread, but it appears the confusion is arriving from a mis-read of the statement in the manual.
