D100/D180 on/off switch

Does the power switch on the Dynon units require internal logic to operate or are they hard wired switches?

If there is an serious internal problem with the unit (fire, short, fumes) can the unit be un-powered with the switch with the assumption that the unit logic has failed?

There is no hard switch in any of the Dynon products. It is possible (in a theoretical, never once seen it happen kind of way) for the unit to get stuck on if things go really wrong in software.

If you are concerned about this kind of failure, you should install an external switch. For most people, this is the circuit breaker that supports/protects the device.
