D100 update problem

Hello...

I just bought a 2007 CTSW with a D100 that has never had an update. I tried today to update, and the program saw the unit fine and read the version 3.xx...ugh). When I tried to backup the config it started copying blocks but had lots of retries to read data. Finally it stopped with an error, I believe code 2721, and the message "cannot read instrument".

I didn't want to try the update for fear of bricking the EFIS. What should I do here?

First, I'd try doing the backup with a different computer if you can and see if that produces different results. Beyond that, we may need to have you get in touch with our technical support staff directly.

I was just told that the GPS needs to be powered down during the update, but mine was on...could that make a difference?

I just killed my D100.  It' dead from attempting to detect the device.   $250 to get it repaired.  I think I may of had my SL30 pointing to it at the time and powered.  Is it acceptable to have the SL30 and GPS turned off (my GPS was off) during the detect device procedure or is it required to totally disconnect them?
