D180 won't start up

I have a D180 installed in a Vans RV-12.  It has worked fine since installation (airplane has 40 hours on the Hobbs and has been flying a year).  Today, I went to turn it on and the blue start-up screen came up as usual but then it shut back down.  This was using the internal battery.  I then tried it with the airplane's avionics power instead.  It brought up the blue start-up screen, went black and then brought up the blue start-up screen again.  It continued to cycle like this without ever getting to normal operation.  I started the aircraft and again tried to start the Dynon with the engine running but still had the same problem.  I last flew the plane a few weeks ago.  The only issue I have ever had in the past was the D-180 shutting down shortly after starting the airplane.  However, upon restarting, it was always fine and this has only happened a few times.

Thanks for any advice.  Hate to remove and send it in!

If the internal battery was dead and the aircraft battery on the threshold, then you might see this behavior. If the latter isn't true, though, that might be a hardware problem. Give our tech support a call at 425-402-0433 when you get a chance.
