D37 Harness Problem - USB Cable?

I have my 10" unit up and running and was assisting a friend with a 7" install when I noticed the following.

1) inserting the USB key into the USB port on the D37 has no effect
2) there is no activity from the light on the USB key at all
3) plugging the USB key into the screen directly works fine
4) wiggling the USB cable on the D37 causes the screen to reboot
5) occassionally on soft power down using button 1 the screen will hang with vertical lines and not reboot.
6) a hard power down is required to reboot the screen

I suspect a USB harness problem.
The remaining portion of the harness works fine.
My concern is that  faulty USB wiring can apaprently take down the screen. Can a short in D37 pins 14,15, 27 or 28 cause this behaviour?

Thanks.

Something is a bit weird there for sure. I can short out the USB power pins all day at my desk and the unit stays running, and it's designed to do that. The output is current limited and protected. So I think you've probably got a different issue. We did a lot of work on the power outputs of SkyView and you should be able to short them with no issues.

It does sound like your wiring harness has an issue. I think you've written or spoken to us already and we have a replacement in progress, but if you need more assistance let us know.

Correct, a replacement screen and harness are enroute.
I'd be most interested in hearing the cause once you have the "faulty" units on your bench.

Thanks.
