I have just been corresponding with Colm Farrell at PocketFMS.

I asked if it was possible to import the Skyview data log files into the PocketFMS PC app to review a flight. The answer was no ... but they think it is a good idea and so plan to implement a converter to import the Skyview log files.

When this is available it should be possible to view track flown on the PocketFMS map. You can currently do this in savvyanalysis but PoccketFMS will be better because it shows the airspace boundaries so you can prove whether or not you violated someone's airspace! Also PocketFMS links to Google Earth so it may be possible to review a flight in 3D in Google Earth.

Ortac, apologies for a late response to this. If you're able to provide me with a small sample log file, I'll look into expanding the current PocketFMS Breadcrumb Import tool to take that format.

Cheers,

Hi Guys,

While Ron is looking at making the existing breadcrumb converter work for manually importing files, we've also been developing direct support for loading Dynon data log files directly into EasyVFR (Formally known as the PocketFMS App).

This is the app that runs on Apple and Android devices.

We've the conversion element done (at least we think it's done!) and only have the interface to sort out.

But what would be very useful at this stage is some real world data files so that we can test what we've already done. Ortac kindly sent me a sample log file last month, but it's just some ground logs and doesn't really go anywhere.

If I got get a few real world flight logs we could test to make sure that our conversion routines are actually working properly.

When finished, it will mean that you'll be able to :
- easily open the logs in EasyVFR,
- have them automatically converted to PocketFMS format so that they can be seen on the map in EasyVFR
- automatically converted to KML so that they can be seen in Google Earth (which can be opened directly from inside EasyVFR)
- and automatically uploaded to the PocketFMS cloud so can be seen from any of your PocketFMS devices.

If you guys could email me a handful of files to colm.farrell@pocketfms.com so that we could test what we've already built, then that would be great.

Much appreciated.
Colm

Thx, that converted OK.

I'll sort out the bells and whistles and come back shortly with where you can get it.

OK, it's done.

The functionality is based on that single sample log file, so if it doesn't work correctly for you, it's that file's fault not mine ;) Seriously though, if you have any problems, please send the offending log file so I can find the differences with the sample.

After importing as a PocketFMS Breadcrumb, the tool can be used to export the position information from a log file to other popular formats including GPX and Google Earth KML.

The tool will only work correctly if run from PocketFMS Desktop, and will be included in the next release. To get it before then, visit the Support link at my web site http://www.pocketfms.com.au

Cheers,

Ron
