Hi Dynon Support,

before we try it all I have a question for a dual Skyview System:

When downloading the datalogs on a USB drive does it have all available datas in the logs or just the ones which were shown on this display? Possibly only engine readings?

If I download the datalogs from the second display on another USB drive, are they the same?

In other words: Are the datalogs independent from the screen layout?

The datalog has nothing to do with the screen layout. It records AHRS data, EMS data, and system data (autopilot, transponder, etc) independent of what is displayed on that screen.

Each screen stores the data itself, independent of other screens, but the configuration is shared. Thus, if you ask one screen to erase all the data but not the other screen, they will have different lengths of data, but for the overlapping section of data it will be the same. There will be slight differences in some data like heading bugs since there is technically a delay when you change it on one screen before it is received by the other, so if you are recording at 16Hz you might be able to observe this if you actually overlaid datalogs.

Here's some demo data for a short 35 minute flight taken at 4Hz. You can see we log all sorts of cool stuff like autopilot force, servo position, percent power, leaning, bug settings, wind speeds, and what kind of waypoint you have loaded in the GPS.

It's standard CSV so it opens right up in spreadsheets like Excel or Openoffice.

Just flew with Data Logging for 3 legs in my RV-6A. Fantastic! After downloading the data to my thumb drive I used Savvy Analysis (free online) to display it. Very impressive.

It's in the Installation Manual (appendix F), not Pilot's Guide.

I wated to post the actual .kml file but this message board is blocking it. So, I renamed it as a .txt file. In order for it to load in Google Earth, you must rename it back to a .kml file.

There are many was to create kml files.  They’re ASCII based and easily edited.   You can start by studying this https://developers.google.com/kml/documentation/kml_tut
Then with some creative work with Excel and some cutting and pasting in Notepad you can do it manually.  It a little too complicated to explain it all here.

I wrote a Visual Basic app years ago for use with the Blue Mountain EFIS to do this.  I just tweaked it a little to make it work with this new Dynon file.  I’ve only tested it with one data file so far.  So it’s not quite ready for distribution.
