Hello guys,
USB connector is not included of screen harness anymore and in installation manual (rev.AK and later) is on pin 16,17,18,19 DO NOT CONNECT.
Is still possible to connect to this pins my own USB connector (according older IM) or there is hadrware change and I only can use USB on the back of the screen ?
Thank you for your help.

You can hook a cable to the USB connector on the back of the Skyview. It can be a pigtail that hangs underneath the panel that you can plug into, or it can go to a connector on your panel.

I know that but I don´t like that.
I prefer to make my own cable of certain lenght from skyview connector.
Question is if I can use pins 16,17,18,19 for USB connector.

We did it recently on my aircraft but it does not seem to work. I plug exactly the same dongle into the D37 USB port and on the back of the HDX but it'll read the one on the back of the unit but not the D37. Maybe they changed the software when the option was removed.

Damn, I am not happy now :)
Thank you so much.

I have a different experience. I have the Wifi dongle on the back of the Touch1000 display, one cable going to a panel mounted USB plug for my map and obstacle loading and the wires in the old D37 with the USB plug still in the cable is connected to the Video interface. I have the latest software and all three USB interfaces seem to work

Newer HDX’s do not have the usb cable included (part of harness) anymore - not sure of the serial numbers that this started from.
Dynon now have a usb A to panel cable for that purpose.
Ps- FWIW - mount the usb socket higher up on the panel, or somewhere else ‘out of the way, as I’ve seen many usb’s broken while people are entering/exiting aircraft.

Very true. Mine is a new HDX but I used a harness that we had hanging around because it was never used. Obviously from a time before they removed it :) I'm surprised it doesn't work because everything has been done properly but I'm not concerned about it. A short lead from the back of the HDX that is easily accessible under the panel makes is all very convenient.

The backstory:

The USB connector that was on that harness wasn't the most reliable in some aircraft. So we took it off the harness. Then, when we had to do some global supply chain crisis-driven redesign to SkyView HDX last year, we took the USB interface off of that connector entirely.

I'm sorry to see this as a permanent decision. Do you support a USB connection splitter? I'm installing V2 hardware dual Hdx1100 and the back usb ports will be overused with dynon WiFi, Seattle av maps on a thumb drive, and a dynon usb video adapter. My plan was to build my own D37 harnesses with the remote USB connection for each hdx1100. My harness based usb connection is working great in my older HDX1100.

Officially it's "your milage may vary" - ie should work, but we've done limited testing.

Looking through here to find any info on what else I can do with the wifi adapters (other than transfer plans) and I can comment that a cheap usb hub works fine on a SV D1000. Have ping usb ads b in, wifi adapter and Oz runways usb map data all plugged into hub and it all works well.

Going by my experience it would. I mounted a small hub box on one screen port behind the panel. That has the wifi dongle, connection to Ping USB ads b in. The other screen port will have (when it arrives) a Dynon panel mount usb port extension to take Oz runways maps (ease of updating) but that works in the hub at the moment. I have even tried all of them on an extention like you are looking at, then daisy chained through the hub and that even worked too.

The Ping ads b uses only power and gets it fine from hub. Unfortunatey Dynon doesn’t seem to support it to put the data on their screens, so I can only get that traffic info on iPad. Would be nice if Dynon incorporated it in the interests of flight safety, rather than the commercial ones (perhaps) of selling their own ads b in product. Maybe there are other technical issues that I’m not aware of. Given how clever they are with the rest of the tech in their gear I’m sure they could overcome it though. Shameless request for opposition product integration there.
