Distance from last waypoint

On more than a few occasions ATC have requested a report when x miles from last waypoint. I realise that this isn't hard to calculate, but it would be quite handy if readily available.

Would it be possible to add this to the map information items?

Please.

Thanks,

Definitely not impossible, but you're the first request. When does ATC ask for this, out of curiousity?

Was recently flying in Botswana and on two occasions ATC requested that we report x miles outbound from airfield. Also in South Africa.

We get the request here in Canada when the airport is managed by remote radio. There is no tower and no radar but we must report movements in the zone. Yorkton (CYQV) is a good example. The radio location is in Regina. They are advisory only for traffic and weather. They keep track of the traffic by getting us to report at certain points and they want to know when we leave the zone (5nm) so they can forget about us.

It can be done by noting the DTW before leaving and subtracting the 5nm but who remembers to do that eh. If you have a second GPS a DTO to the location you just left would give you the distance they are looking for. Some other ways to achieve the same thing. Bring up the nearest screen. It gives a distance. Move the pointer slightly before takeoff so that the map pointer info comes up. It has a distance to the pointer which would be slightly off your lineup point. Again, you would have to remember to do that before takeoff.

A DTL (distance to last) function also would do the trick. :)

What would be fantastic, is 'simulated DME'. If skyview could put the GPS distance to the selected VOR on the PFD, that would be very useful.

as MMarien mentioned, Unless you are really far away from the airfield, like 50 miles, MAP/ NRST tells you the direction and distance to and from an airfield, sure it takes up space, but there is that option.

tonils- if you mean the VOR is a waypoint, that is already on the PFD info items "DTW"
