Hi Everyone! We have a variety of product and feature announcements to tell you about. Come see all of these at our booth in Hangar D!

Safety-Enhancing Emergency Glide Feature for SkyView HDX and AF-5000/6000 Systems

Dynon introduces a potentially life-saving feature in its upcoming SkyView HDX Software version 17.1 and an upcoming software version for Advanced Flight Systems AF-5000/6000 series avionics. The new Emergency Glide feature is designed to help reduce workload in a situation where pilots are easily overwhelmed.

Emergency Glide is activated when a pilot presses and holds the nearest (NRST) button. This immediately engages the autopilot at a pre-programmed best-glide speed. Simultaneously, SkyView HDX will locate the nearest airport within gliding distance, considering both wind and terrain. If the system finds a suitable airport, SkyView HDX will command the autopilot to navigate the aircraft to the airport immediately. At the same time, the airport identifier is loaded into the Com radio, making all available Com radio frequencies for that airport available at the touch of a button using Dynon’s unique airport-centric user interface. As the aircraft arrives at the airport, the autopilot initiates a banked turn to circle the airport while alerting the pilot to take control of the aircraft.

The new Emergency Glide feature simplifies critical decisions and actions during an emergency, providing pilots with the tools they need to focus on flying the aircraft to a safe landing.

New SV-COM-PANEL OLED Com Radio Control Panel

Dynon is unveiling a new version of its SV-COM-PANEL Com Radio Control Panel with an upgraded display. The updated Control Panel features a high-contrast OLED display for improved visibility in all lighting conditions. The OLED display features an “inverted” white on black display color scheme compared to its predecessor, which both complements the SV-COM-PANEL’s design and improves readability.

The OLED-equipped SV-COM-PANEL features the same groundbreaking user interface that Dynon pioneered with the original product. By integrating deeply with SkyView and Advanced avionics systems, the COM Radio tunes frequencies by airport and station type - rather than by spinning in a number - at the touch of a button. Once an airport is selected via the avionics screen or the SV-COM-PANEL directly, the pilot can press dedicated one-touch buttons on the Control Panel to instantly tune Tower/CTAF, Ground, ATIS/AWOX/Weather, and ATC Approach/Departure frequencies. Pilots can also send frequencies over from their SkyView or AF-5000/6000 series airport information pages, or directly using the panel’s dual-concentric knobs.

The new OLED Com Radio Control Panel is a drop-in replacement for the sunsetting legacy version, with identical panel cut-outs and electrical connections. It is compatible with all Dynon SkyView and Advanced Flight Systems AF-5000/6000 series avionics systems.

Pilots visiting AirVenture can experience the new Control Panel firsthand at the Dynon booth in Hangar D. The new OLED Com Radio Control Panel will be available for purchase in the coming weeks at a list price of $438. Learn more about the new SV-COM-PANEL at the Dynon website.

ADVANCEDPANEL.store Expanded and Fully Stocked

The recently launched ADVANCEDPANEL.store is now stocked with a broad range of components and harnesses that allow any homebuilder equipping with Dynon and Advanced to feature the Advanced Control Module in their aircraft. Formerly only available with fully-built ADVANCEDPANEL Complete products, the ACM can now be purchased via the ACM Jumpstart Kit on ADVANCEDPANEL.store.

In addition to the ACM Jumpstart kit, which contains the ACM and the core set of harnesses needed in every aircraft, ADVANCEDPANEL.store also stocks a comprehensive selection of ACM-centric harnesses to further speed installation. After purchasing the ACM Jumpstart Kit, pilots can use ADVANCEDPANEL.store to finish their system with these harnesses and their remaining avionics components. Recent introductions include complete airframe harnesses for the RV-10, RV-14, and the RV7/9 that break-out perfectly sized wires to practically every electrical peripheral in the aircraft.

The ADVANCEDPANEL Store is open now at https://ADVANCEDPANEL.store.

Experimental Dynon D30 Touchscreen Electronic Flight Display
The Dynon D30 is now in stock and available for experimental and light sport aircraft owners. The D30 is designed to serve as a backup set of flight instruments in SkyView HDX and Advanced AF-5000/6000 series systems.

The D30 features a large, 4”, sunlight readable, high resolution touchscreen display. The display provides pilots with critical backup flight information, including attitude, airspeed, altitude, vertical speed, turn rate, and slip/skid indications.

An integrated backup battery provides up to 5 hours of runtime in the event of aircraft power failure, giving pilots confidence that they have access to critical flight information when it is needed most.

Compact at only 3.7” deep, the D30 mounts in a slightly modified 3-⅛” instrument hole via a docking ring mounting bracket. The bracket allows for one-screw installation and removal of the instrument.

List price for the Dynon D30 is $1995. It is available now through Dynon and authorized dealers. Learn more at the Dynon website.

Production Update on 12" SkyView HDX Display
Following its announcement in April, Dynon is pleased to report that the highly anticipated 12" SkyView HDX display has begun shipping. Due to high demand, there is currently a substantial backlog. Dynon is actively working to increase production capacity over the next few months.

Forums and Seminars at AirVenture

Whether you are a homebuilder, a type-certificated aircraft owner, or an installer, Dynon has a full slate of educational forums hosted at its outdoor tent just outside of hangar D (between D and B) throughout the week. The topics offered this year are:

Just wished for a new audio panel with Bluetooth :(

Also, thanks for bringing the Emergency Glide feature!

Every one of these features and product announcements figured highly in the "wishlist" thread elsewhere here in the forum. Congrats to Dynon for listening to customer feedback. 😉

Regarding to OLED com radio display. My experience with OLED in aircraft have been poor life spans. I have had 2 devices with OLED in my Glasair. Both have had to have the displays changed in about 5 years, or less. One display I had it converted back to mono LCD after the second replacement in ~3 yrs. They slowly get dimmer over time to where it cannot be seen well. When you consider the amount of time it is in-use every year, about 200 hours/year, that is not long. I don't know if the OLED technology has changed / improved that much??? Both my experiences have been with color OLED displays. I suspect the requirement to operate in a higher temperature environment is the main cause for shortened lifespan.

The D30 really isn't well suited as a backup until it displays heading. Wish they'd fix that.
agreed and having heading upgrade available for any D30 (certified install too) would make it comparable to the AV30C and it would provide functionality that every certified pilot wants in case of failure... I can't imagine heading being that difficult to add. we have so many sources GPS, manometer, etc. Again, need to think of back up scenarios when having something is better than nothing.

Great point. unless Dynon stands behind their OLED screens and replace them for free beyond the warranty.
