Question regarding the Dynon com and how well the automatic freq assignment to the physical buttons work. I would assume the TWR, GND, and ATIS are pretty accurate, but how has your experience been with the accuracy of the ATC and APT being the correct frequency.

APT lets you set the airport. Press APT, then scroll the knob to select from airports nearest to you. Once the airport is loaded, then the other four buttons pull up the frequencies associated with that airport.

ATC - in particular - will flip through the associated approach and departure frequencies with each successive press. Small airports may have as few as one approach and one departure frequency, while larger airports have more than that.

Also, all of the buttons will match the frequencies listed under the airport information comms tab on SkyView for that airport. They're the same database.

I LOVE our Dynon com unit for this reason. Not only can you get the freqs at your departure or destination, sometimes I'll decide to pick up flight following mid-flight and will grab the ATC frequency from the nearest airport. Works great! I'm just installing another Dynon com in a different plane to replace an SL40 because I love the Dynon com so much.
However, as mentioned above, note that sometimes there are multiple frequencies for a given button. Not usually a problem (ATC is often kind enough to tell you to contact them on a different freq when needed).
I've only had a problem with these buttons one time: I surprised myself when flying to a nearby local airport just 12nm away. I've been there dozens of times. With our newly installed Dynon com, I pressed the TWR button and contacted tower... Turns out that airport has two tower frequencies in the database, but it's the SECOND one in the database that they use (and only the second one is listed on the sectional!). So in this case you have to press "TWR" twice to get to the proper frequency. I haven't run into this anywhere else.

Dynon, if you're reading this, can we request database changes like this? KHWD only uses 120.2 for tower but that's the second freq in your database; ideally that freq would be listed first!

Actually one more comm-related request for you Dynon :)

I was shocked to see that on the "comm info" page you can remotely tune the freq (the "tune->com" button on the SkyView display), but you CAN'T set the comm airport! I was so disappointed you didn't have an "apt->com" feature...until later finding that feature elsewhere, NOT on the comm page. I appreciate that you can indeed perform "apt->com", but why not also have "apt->com" on the comm info page? It's the most intuitive place to look for it! Would love it if you could add this in a future update :) thanks!
