I just completed hookup of the garmin 155xl via arinc429.  It had been working perfectly when connected via nmea serial.  Now, I purchased an HS34 and want to use the arinc429 connections.  The gps acquires position but the hsi still says waiting for gps pos.  No course guidance is displayed.  It acts like it is not communicating.  I have arinc429 turn on in the garmin and have tried "selected course" and "course, heading" settings for the arinc output.

I have gone into the master efis, hsi menu and selected arinc429, low speed for input and output.

these are the connections I used:
pin 11 (hs34 female) to pin 15 garmin 155 (arinc429_outB)
pin 13 (hs34 female) to pin 33 garmin 155(arinc429_inB)
pin 23 (hs34 female) to pin 16 garmin 155(arinc429_outA)
pin 25 (hs34 female) to pin 32 garmin 155(arinc429_inA)

should this setup work?  Is there something I missed?  All other functions of the hs34 are working and it is configured on the DSAB bus.

thanks,
Valerie

You also have to ensure that the speeds match between the two units.

You'll have to ensure that your Garmin 155XL ARINC-429 is set to receive "low speed" and transmit "low speed" (what you have set on your HS34).

I did get it to talk to the Dynon by switching to Collins Pro Line for ARINC429 output on the Garmin. Searching the message archive I saw someone else used that setting. Low speed is all the gps155xl understands.

Still testing to see if all of the approach features and OBS are working.

thanks,
Valerie
