I am the owner of an RV9. I have a question that I hope you can help. I have a Dinon Flydec D180 and I just installed a Garment 660. I will like to integrate this tow together so I can flying IFR. I was told that I had to add a Dynon HS34 for this to work and use an ARINC429 cable connector (not RS232) I’m a bit confuse in how to do the cabling. Do you have any thoughts on this. I would appreciate any help you can give me.

Thanks

Carlos

A Garmin 660 is not an approved GPS for IFR flight. While you can get the 660 to send information to the D180 via a direct NMEA link (per page 181 of t he 660 pilot manual), and have the D180 autopilot follow that, you won't be IFR legal using the 660 either for enroute or approach. You don't need either the HS34 or ARINC 429 in order to do this. For a million years, I had a Garmin 175 GPS driving my Dynon D10A's autopilot - worked great. But not for IFR.
