I am installing the Dynon heated Pitot & AOA system in my RV-6 and using the SafeAir1 1/4" OD quick disconnect plastic hoses system.

I would like to know how builders using this configuration are managing the routing through the fuselage skins. i.e are they running the plastic tube as a one piece run from the panel thru the fuselage skins & out to the Pitot head or are they installing bulkhead fittings in the skin, & if so using what hardware?

Thank You

No breaks

For what it is worth in the two airplanes I did and several on which I assisted there is no break in the line. Reasoning is the bulkhead fitting is only valuable if the wing requires removal. Most wings never need removal once installed. My thought is that even if this were to occur, the line is very simple to run and could be replaced (using the old to pull the new all the way through the routing). Eliminating a leak source was of interest in the installation and indeed no installs have ever had a pitot, static or AOA leak.

It's better, generally, to minimize the use of transition pieces as much as possible - run the tubing as a single piece through the fuselage if at all possible. When running through bulkheads, you should ensure that the tubing won't wear against the bulkhead.

I'm in agreement with Skysailor and Dynon. The last static/pitot check I had revealed leaks at the connectors so I run new continuous lines from the pitot to ADAHRS when I replaced the pitot recently.
