How do we transfer a download to the thumbdrive?
The EFIS will only accept a ROOT file, whatever that is.  Sometimes I can transfer downloads to thumdrives woithout ending up with a Zipp drive, sometimes not. The 4.0 ended up om five separate files on the thumbdrive. Is there a detailed, step buy step, no "if you think you are smart enough to build an airplane you should know this things" type attitude,  instruction of how to transfer from DOWNLOAD to Thumbdrive?

Ola, just transfer the files to the thumbdrive. By "root" they mean not to put them in folders you create. Simply transfer the files without trying to do anything with them. They will transfer as files and will not become .zip so you need not worry about that.

It has been a while but this is how I remember the upgrade process. Place the thumbdrive in the USB connector of the main Skyview harness while the system is off. Turn the system on. It will see the files and ask if you want to upgrade. The other files are for the terrain etc. They can be added once the main system update is complete (without having to shut the system down) by using the menus. Just do the main upgrade first.

Remember to do a module discovery after the update process is finished. The servos, ADAHRS etc should be there but may show they need to be updated. The menu will allow you to do so.

Plug the USB Memory Stick in your PC and drag the file from where ever you downloaded it (from Dynon Website) to the Memory Stick. That way it will end up in the root directory. The root directory is the top directory of the drive. Any folders are further “down” the stack. So don’t put it in a folder.

Does that help?
