Dynon Skyview, VP-200, and trim controllers

I'm very close to buying and beginning to install the Skyview Touch system in an RV-9A. I also have a VP-200 (no longer manufactured) to install. Both of these devices can handle trim control: runaway trim, and two speeds or proportional trim speed to desensitize trim at higher airspeeds.

My questions for Dynon are:
[olist][*]Does Dynon have a recommendation as to whether Skyview or VP-200 control the trim?
[*]If I set it up so the VP-200 controls them, and Dynon in the future activates trim for their autopilot use, will I be able to take advantage of this possible future use?
[*]The Skyview installation manual only mentions use with the VP-X model; should I just follow that for the VP-200 model?
[/olist]

Thanks!

1) Use the VP for all three of these Trim questions. It is setup to do just this.
Go to Vertical Power and download VP 23.2, you'll need that to get the serial data from Dynon (otherwise it's all red X on the VP-200 display). The real benefit of the -200 is that you can do everything through it, so I have the trim setup via the VP and displayed on the VP, same as Flaps(which allows you to set speeds for each level so as to avoid overspeed on the flaps).
2) I dont think I understand this question- Dynon does not control the trim, you do, if its a autopilot auto trim than I would guess the autopilot would deal with that whenever that feature is released. The VP-200 is used to power the trim.
3) Go to Vertical Power and download the install manual and user guide for the VP-200. There is a HUGE difference between the -X and the full 200. Do not follow Dynon's manual for the -200, except to understand the Serial data connectivity required.
I think when you review the guides you will get all the info you need. Also but sure you use the excel powergrid to the -200 as you set everything up. Downloadable via the VP website.

OK thanks, I'll use the VP-200 for the controller. I take it you have a VP-200 installed? How do you like it?

Q. 2 was about the possibility that Dynon will use trim with their autopilot control...if the Dynon Skyview doesn't really know about trim, could it use it with autopilots in the future? Maybe I'll worry about that in the future.

You will love the VP-200- but its a load of work initially to get it setup for everything (electronics and checklist, and modes, etc..) than there is minimal work required in the air as it does everything for you depending on the mode you're in.

1) I kind of don't want to give you a firm answer to this. You have capability in the VP-200 that should serve you well (we have no experience with it here, and don't support the VP-200 explicitly: All of the SkyView data that the VP-200 utilizes is straight off the serial data that we publish for the world to use. But if you pushed me, I'd say use the SkyView features, because we fully support it. I'm not sure what the support story is on the VP-200 with Astronics, so you should check in with them on that.

2) No is the short answer, but it's hard to comment on unimplemented features and how they'll work with third party products. We ARE strongly considering adding trim control to the autopilot

3) What reidviator said. SkyView's VP-X support was designed for that product only.
