EFIS D-100 communication to EMS D-120

I have installed my EFIS and EMS and everything is working well, but they won't talk to each other. When I try to split screen the D-120 and get the EFIS info I get a message "EFIS not detected". The two 9 pin plugs are connected together with a nul modem and my lap top can communicate with both the D-100 and the D-120. What am I doing wrong?

That should do it. Once the serial ports are connected via the null modem, the EFIS should come up on the EMS screen when a screen that contains an EFIS is brought up on the EMS. I'd make sure that everything with the null modem connection checks out. In particular, pins 2 and 3 should be swapped across the null modem connection. Pin 5 should go straight through.
