EFIS-D10 Update 1.13.00 unable

I have been updating for 1 year 9 months with no problem until I down loaded the new 2.1.17 standard installer. Trying to upgrade from 1.12.00 to 1.13.00, it just hangs up.

Able to get program to detect the EFIS-D10 (#1181) and the external EDC-D10 v00 Mag module.

Tried to make a backup, hangs at: chip 1/5 section 3/6 block 71/235; then error message and retry... (1) wait, hangs up again.  cntrl-alt-delete-kill program and cycle EFIS power try again.

Same problem trying to down load software ver 1.13.00, hangs early at block 56?

After an hour of trying, rebooting, reloading software and cycling power still no joy. Unfortunately I don't have a copy of the previous installer program on the laptop.

UPDATE: Used desktop which still had old 2.1.12 installer and update and backup went with no problem!   Could I get a copy of the old 2.1.12  installer for my laptop. The desk top BTW is a P4, 1.8Ghz, 256K ram, Win2000 and the laptop is P2, 233Mhz, 256K ram Win98. (Yes it is old but works good enough, at least until now.)

Hi George,

First, I believe that the version numbers you are referring to for the Dynon Support program are 2.1.2 and 2.1.7 - we haven't released anything higher than 2.1.7 yet.

Second, I reviewed the changes between 2.1.2 and 2.1.7, and they are minimal. I'm having trouble postulating how any of them could bring about the problems you describe.

Third, I would be happy to give you a copy of the old program (2.1.2), but I would prefer not to post it on the forum. Please send an email to info@dynonavionics.com (Attention: Technical Support) requesting the older version.

If both your PC and Laptop have trouble with the new version, but run the old version fine, that would be troubling. Has anyone else reading this forum used version 2.1.7 of the Support Program yet? If so, please post your experiences. If there is a problem, we need to track it down fast!

PROBLEM SOLVED SORT-OF-KIND-A

Got 2.1.2 and 2.1.7 to work on my desktop but not on my laptop.

Can't get laptop to download software to EFIS-D10 with either old or new support program, which is strange since 2.1.2 was working before I updated to 2.1.7. I have deleted all software and reloaded the old 2.1.2 and it does not work anymore?

It appears the problem is in my laptop. It still recognizes the connection but just hangs uploading the software or backing up the EFIS. Using 2.1.2 or 2.1.7 support programs makes no difference.  

May be the laptop has a serial port conflict? Guess its time for a new laptop. Since I got the EFIS updated with 1.13.00, I'll deal with it later.
