EFIS not detected

I have a unit that was installed 4 years ago -- upgraded to E10A in 2005. For whatever reason when I tried to upgrade the firmware/software today, the EFIS is not detected by the Dynon Support Program. I reinstalled the Radio drivers and the PC sees the USB to serial port connector. I just ordered the Dynon cord just to be sure the radio shack connector is not the problem. If this does not work, any suggestions??? Also the D-10A no longer sees either the remote compass or the OAT.

First of all with the upgrade from D10 to D10A you needed to upgrade the EDC as well. If you did not, you will have to now.

As for USB to serial converters they are funny things and many of them do not play well with others...... I have found the Dynon supplied ones generally work well with most industrial hardware, however the old MS XP seems to work yet Vista is very hit and miss. Vista is banned in my office!

If the USB-serial cable is working and found in device manager, than it's almost always wiring. You need to makes sure the transmit pin from the EFIS is making it to the PC connector and the right pin. Once this connection is made, then the support program can find it.

The wiring didn't change between the D10 and D10A, but make sure all your pins aren't creeping out of the connector and no wires have broken.

Just to clarify. The EFIS has been working fine when first installed and I was able to do the remote mag cal, etc. So unless the wiring has failed in the last year??? Anyway, I should get the new cable tomorrow and will try again.

I am having the same problem. The EMS des not detect the EFIS(D100) and visa versa. DSAB cables were tested for continuity. Someone suggested that the DSAB cables be severed untill the latest update is downloaded but I can't get the EFIS to link up with the laptop. Links up ok with the EMS tho. Please help!!
