EGT probe crimp failed again

Well, it looks like there's no more crimping that can be applied to at least one of my EGT probe connectors; after doing it yet again to one of them, it's still all wonky. So, come annual inspection time, I'm going to redo all 4 cylinders by replacing all the crimp connectors and using the soldering technique along with the crimp connectors.

Anyone have any recommendations for crimp connectors, and a source for them? I suppose I could just get the ones from Van's, but I'm not sure that's the best solution.

I don't want to have to do this again...it's annoying to me and it's one thing that every passenger notices (and makes the system look bad to them).

TIA

keep in the mind the wires are very small, like 24, I used the 22 (red) and the wires came right out after I crimped it. I needed to fold it over 2-3 times than I used a Radio Shack connector and heat shrinked. It has actually held up without further issues.

Is that true of both the wires on the probe itself, AND the wires going to the EMS? (I'm not at the hangar, so can't dig through my pile of wire scraps to check out the brown wires leftover from the harness, and I honestly don't remember how big they were...plus, I've not deconstructed any EGT probe yet, and those came with the connectors already on them).

Thanks...

you'll need #22 for both. I recall the wires from the Probe for sure and maybe the EMS side, but in the end #22 worked for both sides, just splice enough off to get a 3 or so foldovers to assure there is a good amount of wire to grab onto when you crimp it.

I too have been a victim of dancing EGT readings. Not a bad probe, not a bad spade connection, not my crimp on the brown wire, not the crimp or connection at the sub D. Either a bad crimp of the connector on the EGT wire or a broken EGT wire, could not tell which. I told a Dynon rep this morning these probes were not the quality of the rest or their equipment.
For a repair I doubled the wire over and crimped a red terminal. Plenty of tug testing--it is tight (unlike trying to crimp the single wire). Okay, now I have a spare of the next replacement.
