EGT Sensor Problem

I too have an EGT Sensor problem. I have an EMS D10, installed for 500+ hours and just recently developed the problem on the #1 EGT. I'm getting a cold reading or 500F deg with the number increasing. After startup I've seen numbers in the 2000 deg range. I've looked at the connectors, even changed a couple of pins with no improvement.

Is there an organized diagnostic method to determine what the problem is?

Thanks

FWIW - the only time I've seen readings up to 2000 has been due to some insulation(fibreglass) material being captured within the crimp on the probe side of wiring.

I'd replace the terminals &, if the loom side is a single conductor, bend the end over to give more wire to crimp onto as the single wire is too thin on its own.

I went back into the connector and noticed another pin that retracted a bit when a small amount of tension was applied to the wire. I replaced that pin and carefully reinstalled the connector to insure there was no tension on the wires. Problem SOLVED!!! I've made 4 short flights and it seems everything is back to normal!

Thank you Jake! Without your comments I might not have noticed that second pin!
