EMS +12v and +5v outputs

Are the excitation outputs of the EMS short circuit protected?

Grounding them shouldn't break things but will result in some odd readings. If external voltage is accidentally injected into one of them, though, things can cook. Generically, you should be able to apply power and be able to measure those two voltages at the pins.

Just wanted to make sure that the +5v would not cook the trim and flap sensor wires if there ever is a short on those.  The people that make those sensors and trim servos only use 26 guage wire on them.

So you are saying that they are short circuit protected?  Or just current limited? In other words, do I need to fuse them if they are feeding 26ga sensor wires?

+5V has a 500mA self-resetting fuse on it.

12V will current limit near 100mA.
