When changing the default setting to °Celsius and litres, I find those units to be °Fahrenheit and gallons after power cycling the D120. I thought this would have been saved into some kind of a flash memory. Is perhaps the keepalive connection needed ?

Settings are only saved to flash at certain times. After changing the setting, try backing out of the settings menu, and then shutting off the unit by holding the left button. Does that make it keep?
