erractic rpm and egt

when doing run up and try to set rpm at 4000 for mag check, rpm jumps all over the place. impossible to tell what rpm really is, I have skyview with 912 uls engine. also egt rises to max when transmitting on radio. release talk switch and it returns to normal. rpm seems normal at other times.

As for the jumps, is it going high, or low, or both?

it does both but mostly it jumps up past 5500 rpm and back down. it seems to only do this while doing runup. it does not seem to be a problem while flying
