I had the same issue did everything and in the end Dynon updated the EMS box to resolve the issue. Unfortunately you'll need to call support to RMA the EMS back for the fix.
Per the thread in the past "To fix EGT/CHT we must see the EMS back at the factory."
Good news is the EGT doesn't spike anymore when I PTT

There is nothing you can do in the field to fix this problem. Contact Dynon customer support. They will give you an RMA to send it back and get it fixed. I had the same issue and after sending it back it works perfectly. They are very quick at fixing it minimizing aircraft down time.

But if the VSI is erratic too you may have a bad coax cable or connector either at the radio or the antenna. Check both the center connection and especially the grounds on the coaxial cable the radio and the antenna.

I have the same problem and worked out it is the RF from the Garmin 296 that is causing the trouble.Turn off the 296 and the problem goes away

A handheld radio is not a good test for an issue with EGT's or CHT's.

The EGT or CHT could be picking up energy at any frequency from 10MHz to 10GHz, and that energy could all be on one specific frequency. So having a handheld radio tuned to a specific frequency between 118.000 and 136.975 very well may miss the actual interferer. It might work, but just because your handheld doesn't break squelch doesn't mean you don't have a strong signal somewhere.
