Error during software version update

First, let me introduce myself. I am a two-time homebuilder. In 1997, I started a RV-4 but finished it as a Harmon Rocket II in 2021 (by adding a Lycoming IO-540, 250 HP, instead of the normal O/IO-360, 150-180 HP, engine). Last year, I started building an RV-12iS ELSA aircraft. While I love my Harmon Rocket, I am building an ELSA so I can fly without a medical.

I got the Dynon HDX Skyview panel components several months ago but installed them a week ago. It had software version 15.4 installed out of the box. It worked properly. My first mistake was to attempt to update the software. On Van’s web site, they had a newer version of the software, 16.2, available. So, I downloaded the software and the 18 pages of instructions for installing it.

My second mistake, which is still unknown to me, occurred during installation. At some point, the EMS system or software failed. The moving map and the flight gauges appear to work properly. I attempted to reset the network but the system can’t seem to find the EMS system.

Does anybody have any idea of what I did and how to fix it?

Or, maybe a way to back up to an older version where EMS system can be found again?

Sorry to hear about your upgrade issue. I believe there is a way to back level the system. Dynon support periodically monitors this forum, but I would suggest sending this information to support@dynonavionics.com

Good luck, I hope your issue is resolved quickly
