I notice when flying at night, with the screen at a dim setting, that it constantly changes brightness 1-2 times per second. It's really distracting. I am open-cockpit and I believe it is getting confused by my strobes, but whatever the cause is, I'd like a solution.
There is no situation where the screen would need to make constant up-and-down adjustments to brightness so I suggest averaging over a length of time, and not adjusting brightness if the newly calculated ambient light value is close to the one currently applied for the screen brightness.
That solution would be fine, though another one is an optional external light sensor we can plug in so I could have it face outwards and skyward so it won't see the aircraft's own lights.
