I get quite a lot of light off the D1000, and it would be nice to have the map a dark background.  Actually, I think just turning off the terrain (non-red,non-yellow) background on the map would suffice.

Make it switch on an adjustable threshold of the dimmer value.

Merry Christmas

Bob,
The map isn't particularly different in color and light output that the PFD, which is why SkyView has the best dimming capabilities of any experimental EFIS. Is there a reason why you think just changing the MAP would be better than dimming the whole screen a bit more?

I'd hate to turn terrain off at night- that's the time you need it most!

All that being said, we do expect the next release will allow you to turn terrain off (manually). It's for a totally different reason, but could be used for this.

I agree that having terrain is far more important at night than day , so why would there be a reason to turn this feature off in the next release?
I can see a reason to allow dimming overall, but I have never seen a reason to have to this at night.

What I meant to say is the next release will have a mode where the terrain can be turned off while airports, airspace, etc remains. This is there because it is a useful mode in IFR (like an IFR enroute chart does). This is also tied to us adding sectionals.

It's not tied to dimming or flying at night. It's something you turn on manually when you want it.

I was looking for what was planned for the terrain when one chose to remove this excellent feature, which you answered- thank you for the updated clarification!
