Firmware Update Procedure for Older Skyview system

My Skyview serial # is 0028xx and is currently using Firmware Version 3.1.0.854.
Is the correct procedure to update my transponder (SV-XPNDR-261) first? and then, what is the best way to update the Skyview system?
Can I go directly to version 14 from 3? or is it better to stair-step up to v. 14? If so, what firmware order.

On our Dynon SkyView System Software page, you'll need to use Method 2 (scroll down) to update using the individual files. Once you've your SkyView system to firmware v14.0, the update for the transponder will be available from your SkyView display. The transponder update procedure is explained in detail in the most recent revision of the SkyView System Installation Guide, in the SV-XPNDR-261/262 section.

After having updated to v14.0 firmware, you'll be able to use the easier, faster Method 1 for future firmware updates.
