Flash Drive Problem: Format Type?

I purchased two 32 GB Mushkin Flash Drives for updating and Seattle Avionics Charts.  Unfortunately, neither of the drives are recognized by my Skyview.  I tried reformatting one of the drives and reinstalling the data and updates, but still no joy.

Any ideas?  What format type is Skyview expecting (FAT32, NFTS, other?)

FAT32. Have you prepared the USB Stick in accordance with the instructions given here http://www.dynonavionics.com/docs/support_software_SkyView_Databases_Charts_USB_prep.html?

Thanks for the reply. The drives are FAT32, and the Seattle Avionics data and the updates from Dynon seem to be on the drive. But the Dynon does not recognize the drive. Any other ideas?

AIEEEEE!  Is it true that the drives must be USB 2.0?

No, USB 1, 2, and 3 will all work. USB 1 will be SLOOOW. USB 2/3 will be much faster. Contrary to much posted around the internet, there's no reason or evidence that USB 3 drives as a whole will be any faster than USB 2. The internal controller is much more important than the USB interface speed.

First, how do you know SkyView doesn't "Recognize" the drive? The only real test of this is to go into setup and see if the LOAD FILES menu is active or not.

Thank you for responding. After I hold button 7 and 8 down to enter the setup menu, the line indicating that a usb flash drive is present is greyed out.  The load files menu is not active.

So one amendment to the above - you won't see anything in the load files menu if you have JUST the Seattle Avionics charts on that stick. If you put any loadable file on the stick - anything from the database downloads page will work to test this (upcoming cycle data was just updated today, by the way), you should see the load files. But, you SHOULD see - even without doing that - something other than NONE under the "procedure charts and airport diagrams", "flight guide airport diagrams", and "enroute charts" under SETUP MENU > LOCAL DISPLAY SETUP > INSTALLED DATABASES when the USB stick with the ChartData is connected.
