FLIGHT DIRECTOR - INDICATION

Hi Team,
Lately I have been trying to fly with the FD on only (AP OFF), to do some hand flying.
The FD doesn't provide any bank indication during turn (i.e: the magenta inverted V doesn't bank).
I am always using my external GPS (430W).
Is this a normal condition or if there a setting missing?

What is driving the turn guidance you are following with the FD? A heading bug? GPS route navigation? There has to be something making the FD want to turn and then you just follow it. Or are you expecting the FD to follow your lead when you start a turn (which isn't how they work)?

if you pick a waypoint that is off to either side from your heading and hit direct, as the autopilot is turning the plane towards that waypoint, the FD doesn't indicate a bank angle? It stays level as the plane is turning? Most autopilots follow the flight director so if the flight director isn't indicating a turn, the autopilot won't turn. If you're hand flying a route then the FD should just be showing you what to do instead of the autopilot.

With the AP it works, the magenta V bank, but for some reason it doesn’t when i have the FD only. May be after disconnecting the AP the FD doesn’t have anymore mode to follow and remain flat ? I need to try again and check the mode status!

The modes for the FD should be the same whether the autopilot is on or off. I'm just going by what I know about flight control from my flying job, not sure I'm answering your questions, sorry about that.
