I have recently acquired an aircraft with the very capable FlightDEK-D180 but would like to upgrade to the even more capable Dynon Skyview.

Does anyone have experience of doing this? Is it even possible, if so how difficult is it to achieve?

It's quite doable, but there is no compatibility between the two products - SkyView cannot accept data from, or send data to the FlightDEK-D180. In a full conversion to SkyView, the engine monitoring is mostly plug-and-play; largely disconnect the two engine monitoring cables on the back of the FlightDEK-D180 and connect them to the SkyView SV-EMS-220 module.

The biggest challenge is to install the SkyView ADAHRS module in a magnetically benign area, much like you did for the remote magnetometer, except that the ADAHRS module has limitations on mounting within a specific area related to the CG of the plane. Then the pneumatic lines need to be rerouted to the ADAHRS.

We wrote a manual about converting from our older units to SkyView, and the SkyView System Installation Guide is also a wealth of information.
