Fluctuating amp gauge on EMS d10

A few weeks ago the alternator/regulator failed on my ultralight. I replaced both and today I had the test flight. All seemed to be OK. The EMS d10 showed a very stable 14,3V readout. But the amps gauge was constantly fluctuating (up to 8A difference between lowest and highest value). I think it has nothing to do with the new alternator/regulator, because after landing I checked the amps consumption (engine off, instruments on), and it fluctuated as much as with the engine running.
It didn't do that before and I didn't change anything to the electrical setup.
Anyone an idea on what could cause this?

So one thing you can do is disconnect the amps shunt signal wires from the shunt, and connect them to each other to test whether there's something up with the EMS. Here is some history of various flavors of the problem with explanations.
