Fuel Flow Transducer

I'm about to order the Skyview system. I'm having a hang up over the fuel flow transducer, and the battery. First off any of you know where the F F Transducer should be mounted? It will be installed with a 4 cylinder fuel injected engine. I'm figuring it should go between the fuel pump and the injectors.
I plan to install a back up battery for every thing but the starter. Would I still need the Dynon back up battery for the Skyview system?
Thanks for any help

I think it should be installed in the line from the output of your fuel pump to your injection system input. That is where mine is installed. It is on the firewall side and there are some installation considerations on how long the lines should be into and out of the transducer. May depend on what type of transducer. Make sure you save the calibration tag that comes with the transducer in order to set the count correctly in the SV set up.

I would recommend their battery as it is very small, is automatic for backup and will simplify your wiring I think. Especially if you plan any IFR. ::)

I would recommend you download and read the installation manual for the SV if you haven't done so already. The Pilot user guide also. The two manuals will explain how he BU battery works and also discusses the installation of FF transducers

I just converted from a BMA system and installed the SV with BU battery and I retained the BU battery I already had installed but mainly to operate the Nav/Com and IFF. The BU battery they supply requires no switching to bring it on line in case of a power failure and lasts a long time depending on it condition and charging is automatic and monitored by the SV system.

The backup battery for the Skyview keeps everything except the AP and XPNDR working (for and hour I believe). A backup battery system is nice, but if your electrical system is at fault and you have to shut it down, the Skyview including the ADAHRS and EMS will still work on the Skyview battery.

If your fuel injection is an open system (no return to the tank) it probably doesn't matter where the fuel flow is measured. It's a one way trip.

Thank you all for the help. I see now, that the Skyview battery will give me a few seconds time to switch to the second backup battery.

If your flying a VFR plane why add a backup battery other than the one that Dynon has for it's systems? With what do you want to back up? Also strange that you ask a question that is covered in the install manual for fuel transducer location. Is this for a plane you built or one you purchased?

I see too meany homebuilts with backup electrical systems. One has a mix 12 and 24 volt system. what a nightmare.

Before you start adding more battery's for the planes electric system ask your self why do you need it. and does the weight you add really off set the safety. Another thing is that if you do do it, make sure how you do it will be an electrical problem it itself.
