Fuel level calibration

I'm not at the hangar (boy, it sounds good to say that , because it means the *plane* is at the hangar now!!!! ), but have a quick question...the SV documentation says for fuel level calibration, the system uses on-screen wizards.  I assume it's of the "add X gallons and press the button" variety...?  Can someone tell me real quickly what the process is, so I know what size containers I need to buy to put gas in the tanks for this process?

The pour size depends on the size of your tank. How big is each tank?

Basically you add 2 gallons and press a button to reflect that quantity. I have a 30 gallons tank and at 24 gallons (RV) the floats are maxed.
However there is only a certain numbers of steps available, so you can do 1 gallon, or 3 gallon each step, it's up to you. Check the manual and determine how many steps you can have than divide that by your tank size. 0 is one step BTW so if there is 12 steps assume 11 and if you have an RV you want need all the steps due to the wing angle.

Thanks...it's an RV-7A, so 21 gallons per side...

I think you can use any step size you want for the calibration. My tank has +/- 130 litres so I used 10 litre increments and ended up with 14 points. The procedure if I remember is:

[*]pour in increment, hit add button
[*]repeat until full
[*]finish by pressing the full button
[/list]This procedure is a bit time consuming and a pain if you mess up and have to do it over. It would be nice to have a short video showing the procedure or a better explanation of the procedure in the manual.

For that size of tanks it'll ask for 2 gallon pours by default. But,you can like to SkyView and tell it you have bigger or smaller tanks at the outset to get it to ask you for bigger or smaller pours. In other words, the pour size it asks for is based on the size tank you tell it at the beginning, but, that first number you enter isn't actually used in any calibration or calculation.

Keep in mind that it may max the floats out at 19 or so gallons. Based on the wing angle on the RV tanks the floats will peak before the rest of the tank is actually full.
For my 30 gallons I stop at 24 gallons (aka no change at 26 gallon measurement)
that's normal is all I'm getting at.
