Hello everyone.

About to install my Kavlico pressure transducer for a Rotax 912 ULS. I note than the manual just says not to install on the engine. Forgetting about the “logistics” of putting it either side of the firewall any pros/cons on putting it either side?

Thanks Peter

Some considerations:
- On the engine - Getting all engine vibrations, pressure sensor might die early,
- In front of the firewall (not on engine) - Vibrations reduced, still exposed to the hot environment, but the advantage is all pressurized full remains in front of the firewall, EMS wiring needs to cross the firewall,
- Behind the firewall - Not exposed to the hot engine environment, wiring to EMS doesn't need to go through the firewall, but the pressurized fuel is brought into the cabin, if the sensor starts to leak the pressurized fuel might enter the cabin, you could limit the fuel flow by inserting a restriction in front of the firewall in the fuel pressure measurement line between the engine and the pressure sensor.

So these are all tradeoffs, I personally decided to mount the pressure sensor in front of the firewall connected to pressurized fuel line, I don't consider 3 more wires passing through the firewall a big issue and don't like the idea of having pressurized fuel in the cabin. But everyone should make his/her own tradeoff

We put them on the engine side of the firewall. Use good fuel line (aeroquip 303) from the sensor to the engine.
