Wondering if Dynon has any plans to display basic EMS numbers in the top bar when viewing PFD/GPS in 50/50 layout or in PFD 100/0 layout. (RPM, oil press/temp)

Also, what the status of the AOA audio tone alerts?

No specific plans for and EMS bar like you've described at this time.

The AOA audio is still in the hopper, but isn't firmly scheduled at this point.

Don't want to be critical. I love SkyView, but the AOA is pretty much useless without the audio. In my RV9 I absolutely can not take my eyes off my visual reference for even 1 second while landing. With all the stall/spin accidents that kill pilots, I think you guys need to bump this up to the top. I am not sure why it's in the "hopper".  If you like I will take you flying at OSH and let you decide if the status quo is of any use. Just my opinion ;)

If I had any input I think a progressive pulsing non-annoying tone from yellow to red.

audio for AOA

providing a functional AOA system should be a higher priority. basic graphic display of the information is of little use when it is actually needed. audio feedback is critical.

I agree this needs to be pushed up. I think the Audio alerts in general are rather critical, if nothing else it provides that backup when one is staring outside looking for the airport and there is a stall or Engine issue that one will never know about unless the focus is brought back into the panel.
I encourage anyone who agrees to let Dynon know, they are a demand driven company. If the demand is there they will drive it as history shows.

I totally agree! I am never starring at the instrument panel on landing, always down the runway so having an audible alert would be a must, or at minimum, very helpful.

It does sound like the audio would be a benefit, but how did you land now? You most certainly don't want to be pitching and waiting for a warning that may not go off. Not good practice IMHO. To many bells and whistles can kill you.

Anyway, landing is somewhat a controlled stall.

I like the idea of the EMS info across the top or bottom. Only need a small strip with the RPM/MP plus a few of the other parameters.

I also agree re the AOA audio. Its not so critical for landing, more so for the approach/circuit. I'm guessing most people have installed the AOA rather than a stall warning? Therefore it could save lives to have the audio working.

Get onto it asap Dynon!  :)

I connected the audio from the GPS495 to my intercomm. After a day flying in the Canadian Rockies I shut it off as I was tired of the constant "Terrain ahead - pull up, pull up!" warnings. Or, just try landing on a strip not in the navigation database. The "pull up, pull up!" warnings start to get emphatic as you near the ground. Now back on the prairies, I'll probably turn it back on as the "five hundred feet" audio reminder on final was a nice touch.

Personally I like to keep track of my airspeed on final so I still have an instrument scan on landing. Having said that, any audio reminder/warnings are great as it's easy to miss stuff you aren't looking for in a scan. Especially when you are busy.

While we wait for the SV audio function, has anyone looked at connecting an audio device to pin 29 of the SV-EMS-200 D37 wire harness (page 6-38 of the installation manual). It's made for a light, but it grounds on any warning the SV generates so it could drive a simple audio frequency generator device that in turn could be connected to the intercomm. A chirp or boing would be a nice reminder to check the display warning. Does the AOA generate a display warning?

The question came up about audio needed for AoA for landing and I guess I'm not understanding why?

I've flown behind an AoA for 6+ years and I love it. It does have audio feedback when way into the red region and lets me know how much more "pull" i can do when doing acro. However it doesn't make any sound during landing...

During landing I use the AoA as a standard approach, and the approach area is not anywhere near the red area. Also, when you fly an approach today with out AoA, you reference the airspeed indicator frequently right? So the AoA allows you to reference AoA instead of the Airspeed Indicator.

I don't see the need for immediately getting audio for landing? Acro, sure. what am I missing?

Thanks,
