Garmin 327 and 330 Transponder Status

Have a Garmin 330 or a Garmin 327 Transponder? With the 2.6 release of software, if you hook the serial out line from the transponder to the SkyView, you can get your transponder status (code, mode, reply light) right on the top of the SkyView screen. Make sure you set you transponder serial out to "remote."

Yes, the traffic and status come over the same wire from the 330.

With a GTX 327..if I need to squawk ''Ident'' will I have to do it via the Skyview or can I still use the ''Ident'' button on the 327?? :-?

You can only DISPLAY the status of the 327 or 330 on the SkyView. The XPNDR menu will not even show up in these cases. All operations (codes, on/off, ident) are still done on the transponder. To control the transponder from SkyView, you must use our transponder.

What setting does the Skyview's input need to be set at for this to work? I could not find it in the latest install manual. The install manual says to set the input to "None".

You can select Garmin GTX 327 or 330 for the in device plus a myriad of other devices from the setup menu.

We try to let the SkyView Setup Menu self-document where we can. Once you go into the serial port setup, there's a list of devices that you can set to both the input and output sides of each serial port. We'll put a note in the manual about transponder input capability though.

Thanks, someone else asked me the question.  I don't have a Skyview so I consulted the manual and found this issue...
