Ever since configuring my 430 on the garmin set up pages, I get a warning from the 430 saying " not receiving input data on 429 channel #1 "
I swap the garmin between my skyview Glastar and my GPSS Defiant.
I get the warning on both aircraft when I swap the garmin between aircraft. this started after doing the config change in the garmin.

What did I miss in the setup? My guess is that I set something incorrectly, but ugh.. I did not make a record of the original garmin settings. Dumb me.
Also not sure if my glide slope is functioning or not in the skyview glastar cuz it is grounded right now for maintainence for the winter. Steichen

Since this original post is from 2010 I'm hoping there has been a solution. I just started hooking up my system and I have run into this same "not receiving input data on 429 channel #1 ". I have checked all the wiring (never an easy exercise you know) and all connections are where they should be I believe. At least it is all according to the Rev K manual I have been working with. Any advice out there most appreciated! Steve

That sounds like a settings issue, but I can't say I know which one, definitively. What's the entire contents of your 430's "Main ARINC 429 Config" page?

Anyone get someplace with this? My GNS 430 gives the same message "not receiving input data on 429 channel 1" It's connected to a Dynon D-100. It did this intermittently and now displays the message at some point on every flight. Being intermittent, don't think it can be a configuration issue and I will dig through manuals to see which pins are involved. I will also check and record the entire contents of the 430's "Main ARNIC Config Page" I live in Woodinville about a mile from Dynon and can go visit them after getting all the information.

Additionally, I get an intermittent error on the D-100 that says "Waiting for GPS Fix" in the upper right. The Dynon AP74 & HS34 are smart enough not to engage Nav/GPS mode when this happens. The AP74 works great on Heading Mode (bug track) or on Nav mode to a VOR. SO I know the system works "downstream". The Autopilot works better when tracking to a GPS fix than heading mode so I'd like to get this working consistently.

I do not know if the 429 issue and the GPS issue are related. If there is something obvious, let me know. Otherwise I will go on a hunt within the manuals and take it up with Dynon Support. They have been great in the past but I don't like to bug them till I've done my part. In any event, I will post the solution. PB

When you get the intermittent errors and the "waiting for GPS fix", does your HS34 still work? A quick way is to check the hdg knob to see if it's working. Another hint is if BOTH the NAV and GPS light come on at the same time - this indicates a lack of connectivity to the EFIS. Do you get any DSAB alert messages on the EFIS?

John,

I experienced this in my aircraft for quite some time, and tore it apart looking for the problem.

Have you checked to see if your ARINC module goes offline when you get this error message?

In the end, I moved my Xponer antenna from the nose of the aircraft (Velocity) to the inside firewall.  I no longer got the message, and the ARINC module no longer went offline.

I just installed a GNS430W on my -6A and wired to HS34 according to Dynon EFIS D100 Installation Guide Section 7-15. I get an error message on the 430W "Not Receiving input data on 429 CH1. Also, the D100 does not show the GPS on HSI display, although it appears to recognize something on the Set Up/HSI/ARINC 429 Input 1 and Input 2.
I have a GNC250XL GPS connected via RS232 and it works fine.
The 430W is configured as follows:
1) Main ARINC 429 Config Page
a) In 1: High/EFIS/Airdata
b) In 2: Unused
c) Out: High/GAMA
d) SDI: Common
e) VNAV: Enable Labels
2) VOR/LOC/GS ARINC 429 Config Page
a) TX: High
b) RX: High
c) SDI: Common
DME: Unused
On the HS34:
1) ARINC 429 Page
a) Input 1:GAMA GPS
b) Input 2: GAMA NAV
c) Output Data: ON
d) Output Speed: High.
I have tried relocating antenna as suggested in the post. When selecting the 430W on the HS34, I get something to the effect (forgot exact message) of "searching for GPS". Bottom line, it seems like the HS34 recognizes that a GPS is connected by way of the SET UP/HSI/ARINC 429 view. Yet, nothing seems to be driving the D100 HSI. Verified continuity of pins, positions, plugs, etc.
Tried changing various labels and speeds on both units to no avail. Just wondering if my HS34 may be faulty, as this is the first time trying to use 429 bus and all works well on RS232/serial. Or, perhaps I am missing something rather obvious. Thank you!

Those settings all look right. That does sound like there might be something up with the HS34. To clarify, is the 250XL connected to the HS34's serial port? Does pressing the NAVSRC button on the HS34 cycle the HSI page it between the GPS side of the 430, the NAV side of the 430, the 250XL, and no source?
