WE just installed a GTR225 on Glasair equiped with SkyView
Based on informations we saw on the forum we through that GTR225 was fully compatible with SL40 ptotocol.
WE connected the GTR 225 to SkyView via RS232. But it doesn't work. WE spent many time Looking for setup, wires etc... to get fréquencies on SkyView
In fact GTR225 is compatibel only on 25Kz spacing, so in Europe it will not work.
First of all, are you aware about it, and do YOU plan to adapt SkyView software in order to accept the new european rules.

If you use the search function you will find many previous threads on this subject.

The GNC225/255 is compatible in SL40/30 legacy mode. At the moment, it is not possible to use the advanced functions nor 8.33 spacing via the SV. The GNC needs a GPS input but its only serial port is used to connect to the SV and the data stream does not include GPS position. I haven't looked into it but you may be able to get the data somehow via the ARINC429 but you will need to fit the SV adaptor or connect directly to a GNS430 or similar.

Unfortunately, SV is very much an American product and is not 8.33 compatible. However, Dynon are looking at trying to come up with a GNC225/255 mode that will allow use of the advanced functions - I believe.......

SkyView is very much an international product, not just American! We support worldwide data from Jeppesen and PocketFMS, including airports, charts, visual reference points, and more. We have free terrain for the whole planet. We will show 8KHz channels in our frequency lists. Our last software release was specifically to add some additional non-USA support...

Please know that we sell a large percentage of our equipment outside the USA and are always interested in what we can do to make it better.

As Paul mentions, the GTR255 should work fine, except for tuning 8KHz channels. The GTR is a pretty new radio so it's not all worked out yet. The SL-30/40 didn't do 8KHz, so there is a new protocol required to tune these, and we haven't added that software yet, but it is on our list. As far as we have heard, tuning 25KHz channels works, as well as the other functions.

Are you having other issues, or is it just that you can't send an 8KHz channel to the GTR with the TUNE button?

Can you give us an example of what airport you are at, what database you are using, and what channel you can't tune?

Hi
Thanks for reply
Switching GTR225 in 8khz spacing, we don't get any frequencies displayed on SV, and obviously Tune button don't work.
For the time being, we can live in 25Khz mode, but soon we will have to use the 8Khz with in specific aera.
So don't Forget us......

BTW, I believe there is a Service Bulletin for the GTR255 re reverse sensing ( CDI operates in reverse) in certain circumstances.
....and it does not monitor ( & apparently never will) the standby frequency like the the SL30 does, one step forward, ie going to 8.33 MHz spacing & then loss of monitoring 2 x VORs. :'(
