Garmin GTX 327pinouts to Flight Dek 180

I understand the simple 2 wire encoder connection from the FD180 to the GTX327. But my question is; does it matter if I use RS-232 IN (1) or (2)?

No, it doesn't matter. Just make sure the port that you use is configured properly for what the GTX-327 needs to see. I believe it is "Icarus Altitude". At SteinAir, we use Serial In 1 (pin 19) out of habit.
