I have my GNC430 connected as per the manual to an ARINC429 module. All indications are that it is connected correctly ie I have the LOC data showing on the PFD and the ARINC monitor in the set up pages shows data streaming.

However, in the GNC430 test page, I am not getting the half deflection LOC and GS indications. Also, turning the course knob does not change the course on the test page as it should.

Any ideas?

Make sure the 430 is in GPS mode with the CDI button and that the SkyView HSI is using the 430 ARINC as SRC (source). If the 430 CDI is set to LOC the HSI and OBS won't respond to the 430 test mode. It's a 430 thing. Hope that works for you.

I just went thru that issue with my GTN 650 it was due to a software change in Dynon Skyview a couple releases ago. Just have to use CDI button or reconfigure Skyview.

I'm sorry, are you suggesting that the HSI will NOT display LOC/GS indications from the GNS430 via ARINC429?

That can't be right........

I'm experiencing exactly what Paul330 wrote. All other indications on the GPS side indicate normally on the Skyview, but the Nav/ILS data shows dotted lines in lieu of a frequency, and no cdi/needle on the HSI when selecting green data. Avionics shop put their known-good loaner in place of my 430w and we had the same problem. Sent Dynon the setup file, that's all normal. Garmin setup is exactly as it should be.

One of these is likely not true.

What are your comm (and other) settings on the GNS430?

Do any of you know if the Skyview will display the NAV CDI Loc/GS if the GTN Arinc out is set to LOW ?

TIA
Jake J

Yes, I have my GTN530 set to 429 low and it is working with the Skyview 429 also set to low.

A quick update, I just got this working last week and it does look like I have some issues with the 429 set to low... The VOR side works great on 429 Low, the GPS side is having some issues. I will start a new post on the topic.

I have been looking deeper into this.  If you hold ENT as you power up the gns430, you get to the configuration pages.  There are a whole host of things that can be changed in the serial and arinc429 pages but according to the manual, a lot of the settings apply to legacy stuff such as King avionics.

Can anyone give me the page-by-page settings I need to get everything right?  I have limited connectivity at the moment as things like the VOR/ILS frequency are displayed and on the ARINC monitor, I can see that data is being passed.  I just need to "massage" it a bit.....

EDIT - OK, belay that - think I have found most of what I need in the 429 set-up section of the manual.........

Strangely, when I set up the GNS430 pages as shown in the manual, everything suddenly started working......... ;)

Thanks and sorry!
