Was hoping someone here using a GNS 480 with their skyview could help me. I just installed the 480 and have it wire via skyview Arinc instructions. I cannot figure out how to and what change in the 480 Arinc settings. Please share with me the settings you have programmed in the 480. I did find how to get to ground mntc setup mode, but unable to figure it out from there.

Thanks
Ryan

I have a 480 feeding my Skyview. I'll see what is on the pages and let you know.

I'm in Michigan now when I get back on Thursday I'll send what I have. Also you must select the 480 on SV nav and setup.

My setup is just slightly different: I set the 480 ARINC Out 1 setting to GAMA 429 GFX, I believe this gets full 480 flight plan information displayed on the Dynon moving map. Also, my ARINC speeds are set to HIGH. See attached pics of both the 480 and SV setup pages.

With this setup, I get the 480 flight plan displayed visually on the Dynon map, I get GPSS and vNav modes on the autopilot, I get GPS, VOR and ILS displayed on the Dynon HSI, I get autoswitching from GPS to ILS on approach. The only thing I don't get is OBS mode on the 480, because I don't have external analog resolver.

Also, check out the GNS480-Users group on Yahoo; https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/gns480-users/info. It's a great resource for getting the most out of using your 480. The message archives are full of useful information.

thanks all.. I followed BABL, seems to be working and communicating great. I haven't flown with it yet. How do I tune the VOR for locating a radial to/from. I assume I use the knob on the 480 for this.. Same as I do with my nav 2000.

To tune the VOR frequency, you push the 480 VOR button, then rotate the 480 knobs.
To show the the 480 VOR needle on the SV HSI, you have a couple of options:
1) to show it as the green needle HSI, select the 480 CDI button so it shows VOR, and select the SV PFD HSI SRC as 480. Then set the SV knob to CRS and twist to your desired radial. The SV HSI CDI and TO/FR indicator locate your radial. The green info box will show 480NAV and the VOR frequency (but not the decoded morse code).

2) to show it as a yellow or orange bearing pointer, select the SV PFD BRG1 or BRG2 source to 480NAV.

It looks like version 2.4+ of the 480 adds ADSB+ format output, and that's one of the formats that our transponder can receive for a compliant position source. So that looks like a yes on spec. See http://garmin.blogs.com/aviationalerts/2015/04/service-bulletin-1519-gns-480-cnx80-software-upgrade-to-version-24-with-gps-software-upgrade-to-vers.html

I discovered ADSB+ is only output on Serial channel 3 from the GNS 480. What baud rate do you use? I'm guessing 9600 would work.

Yes, the transponder's dedicated receive for ADS-B position via ADS-B+ format is 9600 baud. Check out page 11-20 (of the current rev AD of the manual) for details.
