GPS 250/251 mounting hole spacing and output?

Greetings,

I removed an external Garmin GPS antenna, and I'm curious if the dynon 250/251 would fit the same hole pattern. I've been trying to find the hole spacing dimensions online, but so far I've come up empty. Can someone point me to the info, or perhaps measure the hole spacing for me?

Also, I had the same question that was recently answered for someone else about the output of the GPS. I'd need to connect this to a D10A and as a GPS input to an old Digitrak AP. It was stated that the output of the GPS-251 is MNEA 9600 baud. Is that the same for the GPS-250? I've read that the 250 and 251 are not the same, but what's the difference? Should I avoid the 250 if I happen to come across a used one?

Thanks,
Rusty

The difference between the 250 and 251 is the baud rate. The 250 talks much faster (115,200 vs 9600) and cannot be used on the D10A or TruTrak.

Ray pointed to the correct page of the install manual for a drawing of the 250/251 mounting so you can see how it matches your current hole pattern.

Excellent info! The holes do match, so that's great, and I'll shoot for the 251 unit.

Thanks to you both!
