GPS: Avionic or NMEA?

I have GNC250XL connected to D10A. I have learned (the "hard" way) the avionics format does not convey time/date info. If I switch over to NMEA format (which should carry time/date info), am I loosing anything besides faster rate of update?

If by NMEA you mean using the ARINC interface (a different set of wires), you should actually get a superset of the data available by Serial interface.

ARINC is preferable if available.

By NMEA I mean the generic GPS (called plotting on 250XL) output. I don't believe D10A can do ARINC by itself without HS34

In terms of what the EFIS displays, NMEA and Aviation Format are the same with the exception of the time stamp, which is in NMEA data but not Aviation data.
