GPS Blinks out

I was checking several things out Monday with the engine running and several times the Map screen blinked out and was replaced with the big red X. It was only gone for a few seconds and then came back. I have checked all the wires and connections to the GPS receiver and have not been able to repeat the problem by wiggling any of the connections. I also have run the engine again and the problem won't reappear.
Any ideas????

This means the system stopped receiving GPS data for a few seconds, and it means all data went away, not just that the GPS lost lock, which would lead to a flashing "?" not a red X.

So it's a hard one to solve until you can re-create it. Do know that it won't happen if you just broke the connection for a second or two when you wiggled the wires- it does take 3 solid seconds of missing data.

I tried it again today, and got the same scenario as before. With the engine off and cover off I wiggled all wires/connectors
and couldn't get anything abnormal. Closed up the cover and ran the engine for 5 minutes and the problem re-appeared. Big red X black screen then 10-15 sec normal screen reappeared. Happened 3 times at different RPM settings.
What do I do next?

The GPS receiver is a rock star, and usually gets a lock even in hangars. But just to ask the question - where is your GPS puck installed? Your engine is running so presumably you're outside. Do you have any other serial devices hooked up to your SkyView (and are they behaving normally?). Do you have a single or dual SkyView display? If dual, does the map go away on both?

Just thought I'd add some info here- the Gps is excellent, it'll pick up satellites when Tso'd gps eg Garmin 650 won't. Just thought I'd mention that I have seen a problem with 1 only puck - it was intermittent due to an installer having flexed the wiring too much ( inadvertently of course) right at the puck end. Just thought that may be worth looking into ;)
