I bought an ARTEX 345 ELT to install in my experimental Super Cub with the Skyview HDX not realizing that I would have to special order it programmed to accept NMEA Basic for GPS signal input. Is there any chance that Skyview will update its software to accommodate standard aviation output over it's serial ports?

I'd rather not spend the cash and suffer the downtime to send it back to the factory for reprogramming.

SkyView has the ability to generate serial data in a variety of formats, but Aviation format isn't currently one of them. NMEA is the most widely-supported format here. Also, note that although the SV-GPS-250/2020 themselves are NMEA, they output at higher baud rates than the ARTEX can probably support. So we don't recommend connecting them directly (as it probably won't work).

EDMO in Spokane, WA will reprogram your ARTEX 345 ELT for free, you just pay for shipping round-trip.

I read on the Vans forum that the ARTEX will accept either protocol. Give the company a call to confirm.
