I want to positon my GPS receiver about 6" from the ADARHS unit.
Is it likely to cause interference.
Thanks

It's a low power device and doesn't have much ferrous metal in it. So should be OK, but a foot would be ideal.

The GPS signal is fairly week so it can be easily blocked (ask LightSquared). Put your hand over the antenna to test. Having said that I mounted the GPS495 and SV-GPS-250 side by side on top of the glare shield of my Glaisair and haven't had any problems. They read through the windshield and the Fiberglas fuselage over top. The GPS495 complains about lack of satellites the odd time but the SV-250 has never blanked out and get signals through my metal hanger roof. I considered placing the antennas under the glare shield but why impair an already week signal. I would test before I committed.

The L5 signal is suppose to be a stronger signal so that it can penetrate cover better but isn't here yet.

Is the GPS receiver signal reduced a significant by receiving through fiberglass?
My gps-250 antenna is mounted just forward of the firewall under the cowling of my RV-8A and seriously outperforms my Garmin 430W antenna which is on top of the glareshield inside the windscreen. So far no problems of any sort with reception even during aerobatics which will sometimes shut down the Garmin reception. Cheers, Jack L

My Skymap IIIC antenna has been mounted under the vinylester panel top for many years with no problems. Similarly, my SV250 antenna is mounted under the roof with no reception problems at all.

Some antennas are less sensitive than others to signal strength - my Tso'd Apollo GX60 has never had any issues inside a 1/2" thick fibreglass fuselage.
