When using the 430w GPS to navigate to the IAF of a localizer or iLS approach the 430 sequences from GPS to NAV automaticaly as you pass over the IAF. Is there some way to have the HSI do the same. Switching manually is combersom during the approach. Or am I missing something. :)

No, you're not missing anything - have to manually select the NAV source. Dynon I'm sure will chime in, but, while it would be very nice for it to work as you state in your scenario, I'm not sure how it would be able to work. I have 4 options for a nav source that can be 'navigating' at any time at the same time - not sure how you'd set priority, etc.

Today, you do need to switch the HSI Source manually. We hope that a future software update will be able to automate this for you.

That would be great. It would then work like a dumb HSI. Are the two signals from the 430 separate. ( one on 429 and the other composite)

All the signals from a 430 come over ARINC-429. We do not use the analog outputs at all.
